When Pope Francis visited DRC at the beginning of this month, everyone thought the Kinshasa regime would be touched by the divine message and cease their belligerence, lies, and juvenile whining. However, the Pope must be following the events from the Vatican with a lot of disgust as he hears of how Tshisekedi has continued to pursue violence instead of peace even after his message.
During the AU Summit in Addis Ababa last week, Tshisekedi continued his futile juvenile whining, which he and his cronies referred to as an ‘active diplomatic offensive’ against Rwanda. While the other African leaders were discussing pertinent issues like how to tackle the skyrocketing cost of living globally, Tshisekedi’s speech was embarrassingly about Rwanda!
African leaders had to endure what seemed like a lifetime when Tshisekedi, oblivious of the fact that leaders of the world no longer take him seriously, raved on and on about imaginary ‘external aggression’, calling for condemnation and support.
But the entire world now knows that Tshisekedi is the architect of the ongoing conflict, whatever side anyone decides to examine the situation from.
At the onset, the world knows that the Kinshasa regime has refused to implement peace accords since a decade ago, and they continue to renege on new peace agreements signed from last year to the present.
The Kinshasa regime has ignored the Luanda, Nairobi, and Bujumbura peace agreements and instead continued to use mercenaries and armed groups including FDLR, to attack M23 positions even after the latter have shown commitment to cease hostilities as recommended.
At this juncture, African leaders know quite well that they are dealing with a dishonest and rogue regime led by Tshisekedi, which is only out to stoke conflict to avoid the upcoming electoral process.
The Kinshasa regime has resolved to throw tantrums and act like a possessed group to confuse everyone into inaction. Not even the Pope’s visit and his appeal for peace and dialogue were heeded by the Kinshasa regime. If Tshisekedi has defied the divine advice, how in the world should anyone expect him to honor recommendations from his peers?
