The Ndayishimiye-Tshisekedi alliance is in trouble; on the military front, they have just suffered another humiliating defeat at Point-Zero (South Kivu province).
That’s while on the political side, Tshisekedi is also facing a loud rejection for his illegal third term bid.
Ndayishimiye, desperate to keep Tshisekedi’s paychecks flowing, is now playing “mediator” to salvage the Tshisekedi regime.
The Burundian dictator, masquerading as peace maker, called Congolese opposition groups to Bujumbura barely a month after his trip to Kinshasa.
To help Tshisekedi, Ndayishimiye will bribe, jail or kill Congolese opposition leader. As part of the Ndayishimiye-Tshisekedi-FDLR genocidal alliance strategy, provoking all out war in the eastern provinces is also on the table. “What better way to suspend the constitutional order claiming that the country is at war?”, a diplomatic source questioned, “We already know that Ndayishimiye will offer money, juicy appointments to opposition leaders but he will also launch military offensives to create chaos”.
A member of the Congolese opposition, that declined the Ndayishimiye invitation, equally made several important observations. “There are hundreds of Congolese in secret detention facilitiea in Burundi tortured on a daily basis. Ndayishimiye is not neutral, he is the biggest supporter and ally to Tshisekedi. Even a child knows that. I cannot go to Bujumbura”, the Congolese opposition member said, “it would be a betrayal. How can someone bombing our citizens claim to be a mediator?”
In choosing Ndayishimiye as a mediator, Félix Tshisekedi hopes to get planned protests against his regime averted. With absolutely no achievements during his two terms in office, Tshisekedi’s days in office only pushed corruption and discrimination to new heights. Coincidentally, Evariste Ndayishimiye happens to share the same dismal achievements: corruption and discrimination.
While Tshisekedi certainly picked the right person to attempt bribing his rivals, so far, everything Ndayishimiye touches crumbles and fails. With no honour amongst thieves, it would not be unreasonable to assume that Ndayishimiye might just keep Tshisekedi’s money for himself.
