The accusations – backed by facts – that elected national deputies of the Ituri region have raised against the Congolese military (FARDC), and Tshisekedi its Commander in Chief, are chilling, to say the least!
The deputies have detailed massacres by FARDC, at the instigation of Tshisekedi, that should land the latter in the dock of an international criminal tribunal, and the sooner the better!
These accusations of massacres, rapes, looting and other crimes of FARDC against civilians in Ituri indicate a well-planned and synchronized operation to annihilate the people of Ituri, with Tshisekedi’s one motive being to eliminate any opposition to his hold onto power.
This is not the first time the criminal regime is implicated in such atrocities. In fact, the gravity of the situation is underscored by the UN Joint Human Rights Office (UNJHRO) report, which lays bare the horrific extent of the human rights violations across the DRC, with the national army leading the pack as the primary perpetrators of 65% of these offenses. The report specifically points to the East as a region where FARDC has caused a sharp increase in killings, earning them a reputation as the most dangerous armed group in the area.
In a shocking revelation, the UN Human Rights Office (BDHNU) brought to light a sinister plot employed by the Tshisekedi regime to maintain control over the historically restless eastern provinces. The report, released in August 2020, cited officials from Western and African embassies in Kinshasa, who pointed out a “strategy of terror” was being used to subjugate the population.
In the face of such grave accusations leveled against him and his administration, Tshisekedi has resorted to a tried and tested tactic – blaming neighboring countries for the atrocities he himself has ordered!
By pointing fingers at Rwanda, Tshisekedi is hoping to deflect attention from the damning allegations against him and his regime. But he is digging his own grave.
The truth will be uncovered for all to see.
