After enduring enough sabotage tactics by the Kinshasa regime, the East African Community Regional Force Commander, Maj Gen Jeff Nyagah has decided to call it quits. Congolese regime chaos and sabotage have proven too much!
In a highly charged letter to the EAC Secretary General announcing his exit from the mission, Gen Nyagah revealed damning information concerning acts of sabotage by the Kinshasa regime vis a vis the EACRF.
Gen. Nyagah confirmed the presence of foreign mercenaries in Goma, a fact that the Kinshasa regime had been denying.
While the regime had said the ‘contractors’ were in Goma as “after-service-technicians for repairing supplied military hardware and training Congolese military technicians, Gen. Nyagah revealed that the so-called technicians had been deployed at his residence to conduct a 24-hour physical and digital surveillance, forcing him to change location.
When the Kinshasa regime failed to assassinate the EACRF Commander using the mercenaries, they decided to violate articles 9 (c) and (d) the Status Of Force Agreement (SOFA), the EAC Regional Force Charter.
The provisions stipulated that the Congolese Government had the responsibility of funding administrative costs of the EACRF Head Quarters, including, among others, staff officers’ accommodation, office running costs, utilities, and salaries for civilian staff. As if this was not enough sabotage, the Kinshasa regime suspended the EACRF Facebook account!
This aggravated action by the Kinshasa regime crowns, Tshisekedi’s longstanding intentions to sabotage the regional peace efforts by his regional counterparts for the conflict in the east of DRC.
This development portends ominous prospects for the future of the Nairobi and Luanda peace roadmaps, which actually fits the plans of Tshisekedi of perpetuating the conflict, something that would give him the golden opportunity to postpone the elections slated for December.
Tshisekedi’s only interest is to cling onto power for life.
He is not interested in pacifying and stabilizing the nation.
