The Kinshasa regime has enhanced its frustration and blackmail tactics targeting the East African Community Regional Forces (EACRF). It’s objective is to force the EACRF to pack and leave eastern DRC, which would subsequently lead to the collapse of the ongoing Luanda and Nairobi peace processes.
After forcing the first Kenyan overall Commander of the EACRF, Maj Gen Jeff Nyagah to exit the mission through constant frustrations and threats on his life, the Kinshasa regime has raised new bizarre demands.
After the Kenyan President nominated a replacement to take the place of the General Nyagah as the overall Force Commander in the names of Maj Gen Alphaxard Kiugu, the Kinshasa regime now has opposed the appointment, without giving any explanations.
The Kinshasa regime has also demanded that the Force Commander position should be reviewed and become rotational among the serving contingents. However, the East African Community did not include this as a provision in the operational procedures of the force, and envisaged that Kenya would be an able leader of the force.
But the problem of Kinshasa is not exactly who or who is not leading the force, Tshisekedi’s objective is to frustrate the EACRF into submission so that they can return to their respective countries and leave the Kinshasa regime to their own devices. Tshisekedi’s aim is for the conflict to persist in order to grants him a ticket to postpone the upcoming elections.
Tshisekedi has started the groundwork to convince the Southern African nations to get more involved with the aim of replacing the EACRF. Although he knows this would not work, what he is sure of is that the confusion would buy him time to declare elections postponed until further notice.
