While meeting with the Chairperson of the African Union (AU) Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat at State House Entebbe this week, the President of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni observed that the best thing for the Congolese people is for Tshisekedi to have direct talks with the M23 Movement.
The Ugandan President told the AU boss that the M23 rebels need to be given a chance at the table; “So, we are encouraging Tshisekedi to agree with them and if they do not want to discuss, then we can treat them as a negative force.”
Museveni told the AU Chairperson that the demands made by the M23 were simple and straightforward because in a nutshell, they are only asking to be allowed to go back home and contribute to the building of their nation. Mr. Faki concurred with president Museveni.
However, although President Museveni’s advice resonates with what other regional and international leaders have said all along, expect the Kinshasa regime to be infuriated by this wise counsel instead!
Their typical reaction to President Museveni’s advice will be tantrums, attacks and threats to end the ongoing bilateral military agreement for a joint combat against the ADF terrorist militia in Congo.
In the wisdom of the Kinshasa regime, whoever tells them the truth is their enemy.
