When Laurent Desire Kabila realized he was too incompetent to govern Congo, first, he turned into a tyrant and blamed everything on DRC neighbors and the Congolese Rwandophones.
At the peak of his downfall, Kabila senior rolled out a brutal anti-Tutsi campaign led by his Minister of Information, Yerodia Ndombasi who used his eloquence to whip up a nation-wide anti-Tutsi sentiment that saw thousands hunted down and murdered by the army and gangs.
Following Tshisekedi’s rule from the onset, it looks like rewatching a recorded episode from Laurent Kabila’s rule.
Just like Kabila senior, Tshisekedi has chosen fugitive genocidaires as his allies and anti-Tutsi sentiment is at an all time high. Tshisekedi is also blaming his neighbors for his failures to govern Congo and deliver services to the Congolese.
As a diversionary tactic, Tshisekedi also believes that running around the region seeking military intervention would not only help him project his failures on his neighbors, but would also bomb his failures away.
Tshisekedi’s problem is that while he chose Laurent Desire Kabila’s script as his preferred course of action, he did not bother to read the script to it’s end.
