Corneille Nangaa, the former Congolese electoral commission president, has confessed that he was on the clandestine team that drafted the deal that saw Tshisekedi become an accidental president in DR Congo. Nangaa was irked by denials by Tshisekedi while in New York recently when he was asked whether there was a political deal between him and his predecessor, dubbed the “Agreement for the stability of the Democratic Republic of Congo”. According to Corneille, the deal that brought Tshisekedi to the state house was ostensibly crafted ahead of the official publication of the results of the presidential polls of 2018.
“I am one of the drafters (of the deal). This undeniable agreement was signed in front of witnesses by President Tshisekedi and his predecessor,” Nangaa affirmed. Adding that Tshisekedi will find it quite hard to deny the existence of that deal that allowed him to become president, although he was trailing in the final vote tally.
Corneille Nangaa, who fled to exile after Tshisekedi learned that he had presidential ambitions and would pose a threat to his campaign, has warned Congolese not to allow Tshisekedi to rule them for another term because he lacks credentials of leadership.
Nangaa’s warnings are consistent with statements of other prominent leaders, including one of the founders of the party that Tshisekedi claims to represent, UDPR. He calls Tshisekedi an impostor who violated party protocol and went ahead to become president through a fraudulent deal.
Tshisekedi is a disaster that has presided over DRC with unprecedented incompetence and corruption in the last five years. His incompetence is evidenced by the total state collapse, where what was bad has become worse. Congo has never experienced an all-around turmoil in all sectors, from the economy to health, education, and security.
His insecurity about his fraudulent tenure as head of state has made him push Congo to the edge of the cliff. Unless a miracle happens, Tshisekedi is taking Congo towards an apocalypse that could affect the entire region.
