Tshisekedi’s rampaging coalition of FARDC/FDLR, ‘Wazalendo’, MaiMai, Nyatura and mercenaries are now attacking the regional force- EACRF as they attempt to breach the buffer zone in flagrant violation of ceasefire recommend by regional leaders.

Having successfully managed to breach the EACRF manned buffer zone in Masisi and attacked the M23 rebel fighters in their withdrawal positions, the coalition has proceeded to Rutshuru where they engaged the EACRF contingents manning the buffer zone in this divide of North Kivu.

As more revelations linking the Burundi EACRF contingent to connivance with the Kinshasa regime to allow the coalition to use their EACRF uniforms to gather intelligence that led to attacks in Kilorirwe and Kitchanga continue to emerge, the other contingents have been forced to respond in order to deter the Kinshasa coalition from violating the regionally brokered ceasefire.

Tshisekedi has made clear his determination to defy his regional counterparts and the International Community who unanimously believe that the most sustainable solution to the conflict is through a political and diplomatic dialogue.

A meeting of Military Chiefs from four African regions which convened in Addis Ababa on October 6 also supported this view, which Tshisekedi vehemently opposes.

Seeing that the region and the rest of the world chose to differ from his belligerent attitude, Tshisekedi has decided to go rogue and escalate the conflict into a chaotic situation that will be difficult for anyone to solve.

Having ordered MONUSCO and the EACRF to leave eastern Congo by December, there is no doubt about Tshisekedi’s end goal.
