The Kinshasa regime wants the world to believe the lie that “anger has driven young people of North Kivu to take up arms and fight the M23”, because ostensibly, they believe that (M23) are foreigners!
Well, all this is a well-crafted lie because the members of the M23 civilian and military leadership, all the way to the lowest ranking soldier, are bonafide Congolese nationals, with well-established ancestry in the Kivus.
Every Congolese knows that majority of the top military commanders of the M23 were formerly high ranking officers in the Congolese army- FARDC, before they mutinied and started a protracted struggle against systematic persecution of Kinyarwanda-speaking Congolese and the integration of FDLR genocidaires into the Congolese political and military system.
Almost everyone in North Kivu (except the FDLR of course) has a relative in the ranks of M23 and wholeheartedly support their cause. The ‘Wazalendo’ are not youth of North Kivu as the Kinshasa regime claims, but a coalition of the FARDC/FDLR, Mai-Mai, Nyatura, PARECO, CODECO, and Eastern European mercenaries.
The successive governments since the liberation of Zaire have chosen to perpetuate the very anti-Rwandophones policies that precipitated the struggle to oust the tyrannical Mobutu Sesseko.
Just like Mobutu, Kabila senior, Kabila junior and now Tshisekedi have continued to tread the same path of treating Rwandophones Congolese, especially the Tutsi communities as foreigners who belong elsewhere.
But Tshisekedi, a man with a reputation of being a violent individual since his youth in Belgium, has taken the persecution of Rwandophones Congolese a notch higher.
Despite the numerous number of agreements signed since the successive mutinies since 2010, Tshisekedi recently, before the United Nations General Assembly, declared that he would never agree to peaceful negotiations with the M23 Movement. In other words, he declared that Rwandophones would never enjoy equal rights as other Congolese, as long as he is in charge!
Tshisekedi’s objective is to see the EAC/ICGLR led peace processes collapse and the EACRF troops leave Congo. With the imminent departure of MONUSCO, you can only imagine what Tshisekedi wants to accomplish once he is left to his own devices!
