Congolese tyrant Felix Tshisekedi has since last week arrested at least more than 10 FARDC soldiers, including four generals, and locked them in dungeons at the army’s “offices of military intelligence” (there is nothing like “intelligence” from there, only terror).
The arrested generals include Maj. Gen. Peter Cirimwami, the Governor of North Kivu, Lt. Gen. Celestin Mbala Munsense, former army chief, Brigadier General Dieudonne Mutupeke, Lieutenant General Shaban Sikatenda, and Maj. Gen. Shora Mabondani, formerly assigned “to lead operations against insurgents” in North Kivu, among others.
What is behind Tshisekedi’s witch hunt of senior military officers?
One clue is that they allegedly are in close collaboration with former President Joseph Desire Kabila?
What does the incompetent illegitimate ruler of DRC fear then? Is it a coup d’etat? Is it an insurrection? Is it an uprising of the population?
Obviously, the center of power in Kinshasa holds no more. What is happening is a clear sign of fracas within the military ranks that might erupt in the open, any moment.
What exactly is Tshisekedi afraid former president Joseph Kabila would do to him? What threat is Kabila, a man who was forced into exile, and whose property and assets were seized by the Tshisekedi regime?
Since his departure, Kabila never pledged allegiance to any of hundreds armed groups in DRC, not even M23 which fights for a legitimate cause.
Tshisekedi, knowing he inherited an unprofessional, demoralized and ill-equipped army, the first thing he could have done was to change the statusquo and reinstate the morale of his men in uniforms.
However, all the incompetent clown did was to send them to fight M23 in Eastern DRC, without addressing any of their deep problems. They went to the battlefield realized there was no need to fight for an incompetent government, and many surrendered to the M23.
If Tshilombo is acting out of sheer paranoia, his decision will wreck the country into further chaos and it is simply a matter of time before he is toppled!
Watch this space.
