This week, Baraka Forces Front Populaire (Baraka Force) from Fizi in the Southern Kivu announced they have officially joined AFC M23/Twirwaneho.
In their communique, they clearly stated they are tired of tribalism, massacres, violent raids, dictatorship, and the shameless nepotism eating away DRC
They were not forced or beaten into this, they chose it and they were welcomed in Minembwe by M23 officers, which showed them how the fight for Congo’s liberation is gaining new life. Baraka Force even called on other patriots from South Kivu, North Katanga, and North Kivu to join this cause, warning that Congo cannot be built by outsiders or old elites, only by its own sons and daughters.
For people who have been following these developments in Kivus, this is not just a defection. It is a powerful message showing there are Congolese who believe the current leadership has lost direction and betrayed the promises of peace and unity. Instead of progress, people see tribal divisions, endless killings, looting at an industrial scale and leaders only looking after their own families.
M23 is not just holding territory, they are gaining credibility. Every time Kinshasa repeats the tired song of M23 withdrawal, more groups get frustrated with empty speeches. They see in M23 a movement that has become a rallying point for those who want real change, not fake peace deals.
Baraka Force’s move is a wake up call. The more Kinshasa ignores these frustrations, the more it risks total collapse in eastern Congo. Blaming Rwanda will not fix the deep wounds of tribalism and nepotism.
The truth is simple, the fight to liberate Congo is growing stronger, and it is not M23 that needs to withdraw, it is the old politics of betrayal that needs to end.
