Over the weekend a number of Congolese in Goma took to the streets denouncing the none-ending state of emergency imposed on them by the government in Kinshasa.
Started way back in 2022 the spurious state of emergency came into being in what rulers in Kinshasa said would curtail the escalating violence in places like Goma, and Bunia in the northern province.
The rulers in Kinshasa claimed the measure was meant “to rapidly improve civilian protection, curb armed groups, and restore State authority.” Turns out this was just more bullshit from the masters of bs in Kinshasa.
Life only became worse.
In Goma alone, reports show that at least five people are killed every day and in places like Bunia/Ituri the numbers are many but unreported.
The killers are none other than Wazalendo, FDLR militia, Mai Mai and other cutthroat militia groups.
The so-called state of emergency not only has led to more violence and humanitarian crises which it was supposed to restrain, it has further paralyzed local economies while resulting into a mushrooming of even more illegally armed groups.
Obviously, Tshisekedi has never wished to see the area safe or free from violence and chaos. The constant state of turmoil in Kivu and Ituri provinces serves his nefarious purposes very well. From the diversionary technique which blindfold Congolese into assuming the incompetent clown “is at work”, to the leeway in plundering the country’s resources, with no accountability.
Also of note is that by imposing a state of siege, Tshisekedi violated the constitutional provisions which stipulates that when a country goes in such a situation, it is for period that cannot exceed thirty days.
But Tshisekedi of course is a crook that thrives on lawlessness.
