A few days after being told to quietly return to his job at the Justice Ministry in Kinshasa, the goon Constant Mutamba has once again been summoned by the prosecutor who has new evidence.
Mutamba is being investigated in the case of 30 million dollars misappropriated during the prison construction project in Kisangani.
Of course no sane mind expects any fair justice against the drunken minister of Justice. This is a show, designed to distract the Congolese people while more public money disappears in silence. It is the work of none other than Tshisekedi.
How does a man accused of stealing 30 million dollars meant for prisons, of all things get sent back to work, only to be recalled like a chief summoned for a second round of storytelling at the village court? Mutamba should have been arrested long ago.
Prosecutor Mvonde already has the evidence. It is not a question of proof it is a question of will. Parliament has already lifted Mutamba’s immunity. The legal road is clear. So why is Mvonde dragging his feet? Who is he protecting? what deals are being made in the shadows?
This back-and-forth is not how justice works. It is how impunity is protected. What we are seeing is not a legal process, it is a delay tactic, a performance.
Drunken Mutamba should be behind bars, not behind a desk. Every day he walks free is an insult to the Congolese people especially those rotting in the very prisons that were supposed to be expanded with the stolen funds.
And if Mvonde cannot do his job, maybe it is time the people start asking hard questions about him too.
Justice delayed is not just justice denied, it is justice sold.
