Just watch the clock. Every single time the AFC/M23 delegation sits down for peace talks, Kinshasa’s Sukhoi jets take to the sky. We can no longer speak of coincidence. It is a deliberate, cynical strategy to sabotage the global peace efforts geared toward resolving the intra-Congolese conflict in the eastern part of the country.
This week proved the point yet again. As the AFC/M23 delegation traveled to Switzerland for a new round of dialogue, the Kinshasa regime “faithful to its logic of belligerence,” as an AFC/M23 spokesman put it, conducted coordinated attacks. On April 8 and 9, Nyabyondo and Gahira in Masisi territory were hit by repeated bombings using heavy artillery and combat drones.
The most brazen act came on April 10 at 2:30 PM. While the AFC/M23 delegation was actively participating in the long-awaited talks in Switzerland, a Kinshasa Sukhoi-25 fighter jet carried out blind bombings on Minembwe and its surroundings. Video evidence of this bombing exists despite the willful silence of mediators and Western media.
The logical result was death, desolation, and the forced displacement of innocent civilians. This is Tshisekedi’s revolting double game: pretending to dialogue for the Western gallery while orchestrating indiscriminate attacks on the ground. The pattern is undeniable. Every time peace gains momentum, the bombing intensifies. Every time AFC/M23 shows good faith, the Sukhois fly and Kinshasa shows its bombs.
Kinshasa knows exactly what it is doing. These are calculated provocations designed to derail negotiations, inflame tensions, and punish civilian populations for the sin of living in contested areas.
The message is clear; the regime wants war, and it wants to bomb its way out of the negotiating table. How many more civilians must die before the international community names this for what it is- a deliberate strategy of sabotage?
The peace process will not die on its own, Tshisekedi is trying to kill it with bombs. The world must stop pretending otherwise.
