Gruesome video footage is doing the rounds on social networks showing a young Tutsi man with hands and legs tied tightly, rolling on the ground as he is being burnt by armed men that have been identified as members of one of the terrorist groups allied to the Kinshasa regime. The ghouls cheer on as if they are watching a film. This happened recently in Kibumba after the M23 Movement withdrew from that area in compliance with the Luanda and Nairobi agreement. However, the delays by the East African Community Regional Force to deploy immediately allowed the FARDC and their allies including FDLR, Mai-Mai Wazalendo, Nyatura, CODECO, APCLS, PARECO, and mercenaries to move in and embark on a killing spree.
Last month, there were horrifying reports concerning 17 hostages from the Hema community who were executed by CODECO in Ituri province. CODECO had particularly been more prolific in massacres in that province targeting the Hema community but the other armed groups who have been fighting alongside the FARDC have also been carrying out systematic massacres in areas that had not been liberated by the M23 Movement, and only stopped when the M23 arrived and run them out of town. Now that the M23 has been obliged to withdraw from the liberated areas, the communities in these areas are being targeted by the FARDC and their armed group allies.
Shockingly, none of these massacres received as much of a mention by the international media or the so-called human rights watchdogs! The impression is that when it comes to the DRC turmoil, the international media and watchdogs are automatically programmed to recognize the M23 and the ADF, and the rest is blurred. Ironically, on the day the young Tutsi man in Kibumba was burnt alive, Amnesty International instead issued a report asking the international community to conduct investigations in Kishishe, never mind that they are aware that MONUSCO had already said they conducted the same, even though they did not bother to set foot at the scene of the alleged massacres. This raises the question once again concerning the credibility of the hasty investigations conducted by MONUSCO since it looks like their credibility is questioned by Amnesty International.
This trend brings out the worrying suspicions of a conspiracy by the international media and so-called human rights watchdogs who are only in DRC to collect pieces that will fit in their pre-set narrative template.
