Tshisekedi bent on elbowing out all opposition to remain sole political contender in upcoming elections in DRC
DRC presidential contender Martin Fayulu, the man widely believed to have defeated Tshisekedi in the previous elections, has threatened to not field any candidate at all electoral levels in the upcoming elections unless tyrannical ruler Tshisekedi allows a level playing field.
Fayulu’s frustrations are predicated on the fact that Tshisekedi is determined to use all state machinery to ensure the elections either do not take place, or if they do, Tshisekedi stands all by himself – to win by hook or crook!
Tshisekedi has mobilized state security to make sure frontline political contenders like Katumbi, Fayulu, and Mzito don’t get the opportunity to speak with the electorate to articulate their political agenda.
Their rallies have been brutally dispersed, and top opposition officials arrested and framed.
Tshisekedi is a paranoid wreck because he knows he has no leverage to win the election, cognizant that he lost the previous one.
Since he knows that his performance in the past five years of his tenure has been embarrassingly poor, he knows that repression and brutal crackdown on his opponents is his only weapon.
