Anyone reading the final report (whose contents had been deliberately leaked throughout the compilation process) would easily deduce that the document sidesteps the principle of objectivity.
The first indicator of lack of objectivity is the presentation of questionable evidence and reliance of unreliable sources. Surely, which researcher would consider wives of FDLR and Mai-Mai militias as reliable sources when they are looking for evidence of case of rape? Only a researcher with an already determined template!
The report completely avoids talking about the root causes of the more than three decades conflict, which is fundamentally the absence of governance and rule of law in DRC. The report blatantly ignores the reason the M23 rebel movement came into existence, which is the persecution of Rwandophones Congolese.
The report also avoids speaking about how the Kinshasa regime has mobilised Congolese to turn against the Congolese Tutsi communities. The researchers also turned a blind eye on the ongoing genocide in Masisi and Ituri, where state allied armed groups like FDLR, Mai-Mai, Wazalendo, CODECO, APCLS are running rampage, killing Congolese Tutsis and Hema communities, burning their villages and taking the property.
The so-called experts also deliberately failed to point that Tshisekedi has refused to comply with the Luanda and Nairobi peace processes’ recommendations and continues to stockpile weapons and train an army that he intends to use to attack Rwanda in support of FDLR and other anti-Rwanda elements living in the Diaspora.
It is clear that the objective of the UN Group of Experts is not to contribute to peace by enlightening the UN Security Council concerning the reality on the ground in eastern DRC. The Experts’ target is to have Rwanda turned into a failed state, but that’s a pipe dream, they will fail.
