In the aftermath of the fraudulent December 2023 presidential election, Tshisekedi and his inner circle are maneuvering to entrench their hold on power. They are pushing a dangerous agenda to secure a third term, with ambitions that could extend to a fourth and fifth by manipulating constitutional amendments. If his reign continues, the Congolese people and the entire region will be dragged into chaos under the misrule of an inept leader who stumbled into the presidency by accident.

After his inauguration, Tshisekedi installed his loyal puppet, André Mbata, as Vice President of Parliament. Mbata, a mere marionette of Tshisekedi, quickly stirred up unnecessary controversies, pushing the narrative that the Constitution needed revisions. In May, Tshisekedi himself, while globe-trotting in Europe, declared that the DRC’s Constitution was “obsolete” and that the country deserved a more “dignified” one. However, these schemes are transparent to anyone paying attention; Tshisekedi’s sole aim is to amend the Constitution to extend his grip on the presidency.

While Tshisekedi wants to cling on power for too long, the Congolese people are suffering profoundly under his rule, which has been marked by escalating conflicts, particularly in eastern DRC. Despite spending months in Kinshasa with the M23, Tshisekedi has chosen stubbornness over empathy, ignoring the grievances of Congolese Tutsi who have faced systemic oppression. For three years now, Tshisekedi has opted to confront them with the FARDC, aided by the FDLR, the Burundian army, SADC, and various mercenaries and thugs. This belligerent approach intensified the conflict, leading to a surge in refugees in the whole region and internally displaced persons within the country.

As Congolese, we must stand tall and resist Tshisekedi’s attempts to turn our nation into his personal backyard. His incompetence and stubbornness threaten to drag us into further chaos, much like the dark days of Mobutu. If we don’t act now, Tshisekedi’s reckless pursuit of power will only bring more suffering and calamity to our people. It’s time to reclaim our country from his grasp.
