This Wednesday the UN security mission in DRC, MONUSCO, opened its bases to the coalition of FARDC, and terrorist groups like FDLR, PARECO, Mai-Mai, ACPLS, and the Wagner mercenaries, to bomb or shell positions of the M23 movement.

Sources following the developments in Eastern DRC state that FARDC and its genocidal allies used UN bases in the areas of Mushaki, Karuba, Marche, and other surrounding areas to attack the M23 despite the standing order of ceasefire.

For MONUSCO to give its premises and weapons to FARDC and its cutthroat partners not only is a total violation of its mission, but shows its partiality to the current ongoing conflict in DRC and the continuous deterioration of insecurity. If anything, MONUSCO is expected to condemn vigorously the killings of innocent Congolese that happen when such shelling takes place. That’s what is in its mandate, not to take sides in the conflict.

It is utterly shocking that MONUSCO as an organizations nominally tasked to protect civilians, is openly becoming part and parcel of their predators acting with the Congolese troops, FARDC. Since the fighting, in the southwestern axis towards Goma resumed, thousands of innocent Congolese are internally displaced while many others have died while fleeing.

Both the UN and the international community seem not to care how many Congolese die or ate displaced. The situation requires that stern action – sanctions among them – be taken against DRC’s murderous regime, for openly carrying out a genocidal campaign against sections of the Congolese population. Sadly, all they care about is their interests, which mainly involve looting of DRC on an industrial scale (of course with the collusion of the Kinshasa regime).

For the past three decades since the arrival of MONUSCO, DRC has never gotten any better, but only gets worse, year after year. The main question now is why has this dysfunctional organization continues to have its mandate extended.

With the ongoing developments, M23’s decision to take arms and fight for its cause is more justified than ever before.

It’s beyond high that MONUSCO were taken to task, or fullly disbanded!
