In the evening hours of yesterday, M23 authorities announced the capture of five armed men in the city of Goma. They had previously been cantoned in the camps of Monusco and had been released on unknown conditions.

The five arrested men comprised of three FARDC soldiers and two FDLR militia, all armed with four rifles and three grenades. The men planned carnage in the city as “protest of M23 liberation”, as per instructions of the Kinshasa regime.

In a statement released by Lawrence Kanyuka, the spokesperson of M23, the public was warned to be on the lookout following the release of more than 100 FARDC soldiers hitherto cantoned in Monusco bases in Mubambiro camps and Goma.

The conduct of Monusco not only contravenes its mandate and all standard protocols of demilitarization, disarmament, demobilization and repatriation. With the release of the four men, Monusco was participating in a deliberate act aiming at plunging Goma into a state of anarchy – such that Monusco then attempts to justify, and maintain its presence in eastern DR Congo.

The liberation of Goma by M23 no doubt put Monusco in a state of consternation with many of its leaders left wondering whether their “heavy” paycheques will keep coming, or whether they will pack their bags and leave.

Apparently they are so scared they will resort to any desperate measure, to try to maintain relevance.

They are fabricating stories of “armed violance targeting civilian populations”, and actually trying to manufacture crisis!

But theirs is a losing battle.

It is on record that in every city, every village that M23 has liberated, life has returned to normal, and became even better because of the total security, and law and order brought by M23.

Many images and video of people attending community works for cleaning (Sarongo) or repairing broken bridges show a picture in stark contrast of UN claims.

The writing is on the wall for Monusco; this useless body that’s spent up to three decades in Eastern DRC supposedly to restore peace and security, but in fact are a big part of the problem.

They will go, whatever tricks they play!
