Kinshasa is in disarray. Tshisekedi’s loyalists are now crying foul as the M23 approaches the gates of Uvira. This is precisely what always happens when Tshilombo consistently chooses war over peace.
Time and again, Tshisekedi has been urged to embrace diplomacy. From Nairobi to Doha, he sat at the peace table only to betray every agreement afterward. The world saw a calm and cooperative face at negotiations, but his true nature emerged in action. A hypocrite who thinks his military gamble can save him. Yet it becomes impossible.
For Tshisekedi, war has become a political language.
A recent example says it all. While his Foreign Minister was in Washington pursuing a peace deal, Tshisekedi was covertly recruiting Colombian mercenaries, once again violating the ceasefire. Tshisekedi, through his evil coalition composed of FARDC, FDLR, Wazalendo, FDNB, and foreign mercenaries, has never stopped to shell on innocent civilians in eastern DRC in the name of fighting the M23.
As expected, this reckless strategy has backfired.
His coalition is now encircled by the lions of Sarambwe. The liberation of Uvira is no longer a question of if, but when.
Tshisekedi’s gamble on belligerence has collapsed into a humiliating failure. He now faces a clear choice. Walk the path of peace, or watch M23 march straight into his dining room in Kinshasa.
The ball is in his court.
