Kinshasa tyrant Felix Tshisekedi whose coalition of evil has recently intensified its attacks on civilian areas in Rubaya, has blood on his hands.
His mercenaries using drones attacks blindly fired, hit M23 Spokesman Lt. Col. Willy Ngoma, killing him. It was one of those freak accidents of war.
This news predictably has set abuzz the propagandist hyenas of Tshisekedi. Yet, those who celebrate his death reveal not strength, but fear.
They must know that the fall of a single figure does not extinguish a cause. On the contrary, it deepens its meaning and strengthens the resolve of those who remain. Those who mock his death misunderstand the nature of conviction. They do not weaken the M23 movement. They remind their followers why it exists.
Besides, Willy Ngoma died with an unfinished mission to end the persecution of Congolese Tutsi, that the genocidaire forces of instability, such as the FDLR, must never prevail, and that the kleptocratic regime he opposed must one day give way to justice. His death sends a message that extends beyond the battlefield. It is a reminder that individuals may fall, but the convictions they carried continue to live.
Willy Ngoma will be remembered as a man who chose the difficult path of resistance, even though inaction would have been easier. He was a soldier shaped by conviction and a deep sense of duty. Throughout his life, he committed himself to what he believed was the defense of the Congolese against oppression and injustice. In moments when the Tshisekedi regime silences many, Ngoma stood firm in his beliefs, particularly in confronting what he and others saw as the persecution of Congolese Tutsi communities. He believed that their dignity, security, and rightful place in their own country had to be defended.
In death, as in life, Willy Ngoma remains a symbol of resistance. His legacy will endure because he chose to face adversity. For the M23 movement, which shared his vision, his story does not end with his death. It continues in the cause he believed was greater than himself.
